Visit Waterfall Country to the south of the magical Brecon Beacons National Park
Waterfall Country is one of the most popular areas of the Brecon Beacons National Park and can be accessed within a 30 minute drive from Mercure Swansea Hotel. It’s the perfect destination for walkers, photographers, climbers and canoeists.
Sgwd Gwladys, pictured, is a 7 metre high waterfall on the river Afon Pyrddin, close to the village of Pontneddfechan where local refreshments can be found.
Coed-y-Rhaeadr or more commonly known, Waterfall Country, lies between the villages of Hirwaun, Ystradfellte and Pontneddfechan. The area contains two Sites of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation with fine specimens of sessile oak and ash trees and over 200 species of mosses, liverworts, and ferns.
The most famous waterfall is Sgwd-y-Eira, the Snow Waterfall, on the River Hepste, where a natural path leads right behind the curtain of water.
