Team charity work in action!

Rays of Sunshine, the charity which helps seriously ill children in the UK, has been selected as Jupiter Hotels’ the charity of the year for 2018. Three members of the team from Mercure Swansea Hotel had the pleasure of going along to an activity day hosted by Rays of Sunshine and held at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

The team got involved in a full day’s activity, with arts and crafts in the morning, where children and their parents could join in and make tea light holders, treasure boxes, decorate pencil cases and bags. Some of the team helped children by their bedside, to ensure all those who wanted to join in could.

The afternoon was spent in the hospital’s play area, again with more crafting activities, including build a bear, making bracelets, and painting. The children also enjoyed a magician and caricaturist.

The team from the Mercure Swansea Hotel: Savannah, Gaby, and Steph were delighted to have had the opportunity to support the charity locally. Savannah, from the events team at the hotel, said: “It was a really enjoyable day. The charity does some amazing work, and helps children with serious illnesses by helping make a wish come true. It was a pleasure to be able to support the charity locally at Bristol Hospital, and we met some lovely children and their parents throughout the day. As a hotel we’re looking forward to raising funds for this incredible charity throughout the year.”
